I made poutine. Nom nom nom. (Possibly the best bad-for-you food in the world.)

And, yes, those are real cheddar cheese curds. One of the advantages to living in Canada is that you can actually GET them at your local supermarket.
AND ZOMG I'M EATING IT AND THE CURDS ARE *SQUEAKING!* YAY! IT'S *REAL*! (Well, ok, if I want REAL, I'm going to have to not buy "poutine sauce" and rather go to Quebéc and get some from a street vendor. But STILL. I was told squeaking curds are the sign of "real" poutine.)
I didn't quite get the proportions right. Too much gravy and cheese, not enough fries. And I didn't make the gravy hot enough to melt the cheese. But that's ok. Something to work towards next time.

ok, that out of the way lol, good job on making it :) ive converted so many americans with poutine. every single one of them, upon hearing the description of it, positively cringe. i tell them "you say that now, but just you wait", and they say "no way! grose!"
and then they eat it? and are like "WTF?? what have i been doing with my life???"
Poutine is positively heavenly.
I've been eating cheesy fries with gravy for years (it's an easy-to-find food in most bars/carnivals/fairs in Pittsburgh)
Although, what you find in Pgh is most definitely not poutine. For one, the cheese is usually melted cheddar or nacho cheese, and the gravy is typically a brown beefy kind.
I'd never thought of using squeaky cheese, though. Sounds awesome!
Also, gravy on fries is pretty traditional in Baltimore.
When I first moved here the bar kitty corner from my apartment had poutine, and it was awesome. Then they changed their menu and no longer had it. Boooooo. If I DO make it up to Canuckistan, poutine will probably be the reason why. (Well, that and Tim Hortons)
Oh, and I have to say, the food looks delicious too. :)
